Bridgton Easy Riders November Meeting

Meeting called to order 6:45 PM by President Blaine Chapman

Treasurer’s Report read by Mary Corthell, Treasurer

Minutes of October Meeting were read and approved

MEMBERSHIP: 57 family, 16 business memberships received so far

EQUIPMENT:

  • Repaired brakes on Tucker; Maintenance work done by Jim Medcalf & Rob Moore
  • Rubber tracks are cracked (some cracks there when we bought them)

TRAILS:

  • Meet at Rite-Aid 8 AM Sundays for trail work
  • New landowners in a few places
  • So. Bridgton trail improved; brushed trail to Long Lake & ITS 80 by Ridlonville
  • Invited ATV club to help us brush
  • Blaine used his bush hog on RR bed trail
  • Home Run Road will be repaired
  • Blaine working with CMP & State to access to powerline across from Chamber – we have landowner permission to work on washout there
  • Trail work volunteers will meet 8 AM Sundays at the Big Apple on Main St. next to Craftworks (Parking across street behind new the Chalmers building)

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Club website has been updated.
  • Snack Shack roof is sagging and inside is deteriorating. Bob Corthell moved, Phil Gabardi 2nd, that we remove equipment and store it until we can donate or sell it, and to dispose of trailer. Voted yes, 0 opposed.

FUNDRAISERS:

  • Gun Raffle
    • People are selling tickets for the Gun Raffle
    • Background checks must be done at the place where each gun was purchased
  • Poker Rally
    • Bob Corthell moved, Phil Gabardi 2nd, that the club purchase 10 small signs at $10 each for the trails
    • We can change the Poker Rally date every year on the signs
    • Voted yes, nobody opposed

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Blaine invited Bill Warren, long-time club member, to come speak to club about the “Old Days” in the club – Bill agreed; date to be determined
  • Bob Corthell spoke with Alan Sweet, Safety Chair @ MSA, about coming to give a talk about snowmobile safety – date to be determined
  • Grants
    • Blaine has submitted two grants: Municipal (for grooming ITS trails), and Club Grant for 30+ miles of Club trail
    • Blaine and Steve attended a workshop at the Snowmobile Show in Augusta, and learned that the Capital Equipment Grant is awarded on a point system, to give smaller clubs a chance to qualify
    • Extra points are awarded if trails are shown with GPS coordinates, which we have
    • The grant can be used for equipment repair
  • December meeting will be a pot-luck supper & Yankee Swap Christmas party – bring a wrapped gift marked for Man, Woman, or Either, maximum value $10

CLUB TRIP:

  • School vacation week is 2/19 – 25
  • The Club trip will be Feb. 7, 8, 9 (returning home Fri. 2/10)
  • Bill Preis collected information at the Snowmobile Show – at our December meeting will have details of potential destinations and will vote that evening on which place to go
